Archibald started his career at Clyde before moving to Aberdeen , where under Sir Alex Fergusons wing played a major role in helping Aberdeen to their most successful spell in the clubs history. In 1980 he was transferred to Spurs for £800,000, again Archibald scored freely. After 4 successful years he was signed by Barcelona for over 1 million pounds and once again scored at will at the Nou Camp helping them to a league championship in his 1 st season.
